Revisn stands with the Black community in Raleigh and nationwide, and believes that justice and equality are what will move us forward into a new, better world. We have compiled a list of some of our favorite local Black-owned businesses in the Oak City to highlight local talent, from food to clothing to spa treatments. Don’t let our list stop you from exploring all the other wonderful services and products offered by our Black neighbors in Raleigh—these are just our favorites!
Located a hop, skip, and a jump away from Revisn, Adara Spa is a full-service spa and salon offering massages, manicures, facials, and more! We can vouch first-hand that Adara Spa is the most inviting and professional locally owned spa in Raleigh. Visit their website for a full menu of services.
The most well-kept secret in Raleigh! Jack’s is hands down the most delicious, authentic soul food you can find near Downtown Raleigh. Another well-kept secret at such low prices, you can sample most anything from their menu, like their BBQ chicken sandwiches, catfish, chitterlings, fried okra, and more! Stop in while they are re-opened, or order delivery from Grubhub.
Located inside of Morgan Street Food Hall, Oak City Fish and Chips offers an array of sinful, hand-breaded fish, chicken, and shellfish paired up with their tasty chips (or fries). We love their calamari coated in their signature spices! You can also visit their new location in Southeast Raleigh while you’re at it.
This restaurant and lounge is perhaps the most fashionable spot to grab small plates or dinner in Raleigh. With incredible, inspired interior décor and a killer menu, ORO is an ambient dine-in experience to remember. While this Black-owned business is currently closed for repairs, keep a look out to see when they’ll be back open for dine-in and take-out.
Mike Phillips, 23, became the youngest Black business owner in Raleigh when he opened, SirCastleTees his custom-painted shoe business located in Boylan Heights, a sure fire hit with locals. When Phillips is not hand-painting shoes, he’s providing them to those in need in the area as well as giving talks at local public school on entrepreneurship.
